One of the Best Teahouses for Afternoon Tea in LA

The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood

After spending my mornings looking at Basquiat and Rothko, Tippy picked me up from the Museum of Contemporary Art to head to an afternoon tea at the Godfrey Hotel. As soon as we walked in we were transported to a timely post modern Hollywood hotel. The restaurant was a ghost town but all the better for a quiet afternoon with a pot of tea. We were shown the tea selection by our server and I landed on the Raspberry Nectar followed by the Moroccan Mint and Tippy had the Jasmine tea. We each had our own individual pots of hot water accompanied by the tower of hors d’oeuvre. After catching up on gossip and talking about current events we turned our attention to the sweets. The macaroons were lovely and overall the environment was gentle and quite nice.

The food selection of the accompanied pastries was well assorted with options ranging from mini cucumber sandwiches to fresh fruit. Overall for some 22-year-olds on a budget, this spot is definitely a must for catching up with old friends. The ALK was $30 per person making it very affordable for a simple evening. The building was a touch of old Hollywood followed by Art Deco. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at The Godfrey Hotel for afternoon tea and I will be back!

Fashion:

I was wearing a lavender purple jacket , a black silk tank top, and a lime green pencil skirt that I thrifted from a Goodwill in Dallas. My shoes are vintage white boots that I bought at an antique store in Orange County

Architecture:

The Godfrey hotel is located in Hollywood and rightfully so, the architecture represents a touch of that old Hollywood glam but still remains very modern. The Godfrey Hotel is located a block south of Sunset Blvd. The Godfrey Hotel prides itself on bringing a Chicago flare to the heart of Los Angeles. Built in the beginning of the pandemic of early 2020 the Godfrey Hotel has stood tall. The restaurant inside the Godfrey Hotel is called ALK- About Last Knife- As the building is fairly new we were one of the first who experienced their new feature of afternoon tea. It was a delight.

Teaware: The cups we drank from were white porcelain ceramic that was factory-made.

Tea: The tea we were drinking was from Tea Forte which is a company based in Boston with herbs imported from around the world.

Overall Experience: 3.5/5
