Frolicking to the Huntington Library Rose Garden Tea Room

For my 23rd birthday, I spent the entire day anticipating what I have come to know as the best tea experience I’ve had so far in Los Angeles, at The Huntington Rose Tea Room. I enter the gates of one of the most heavenly and dreamlike places in Los Angeles. Walking throughout the garden was heavily fragrant as the entire garden was drenched in roses. This was by far my favorite tea experience to date. As I wandered alone in this big beautiful garden I quickly got lost on my way to my reservation gazing up at gorgeous beautiful pine trees that were miles tall with a sun warm enough to kiss my skin and not hot enough to chard it. I arrived at the tea room and carefully sat in the corner next to a beautiful window that led to the rose garden. I sat next to a group of entertaining old ladies gossiping about their husbands and daughters-in-law as sip my first cup of tea-

Tea/ Accompaniments

I chose the green tea entitled ‘happy’ which was a perfect testament to my current mood. The green tea was a blend of“Sweet raspberries balanced by tangy hibiscus flowers while jasmine lifts this organic guayusa tea.”

Alongside their house champagne of course the Tea was exquisite and rich in flavor. Light to taste and not too sweet. It complimented their assortment of tea sandwiches very well as well as their top tier of sweets.

Overall foodie favorites and tries

Sweet: Belgian Chocolate & Sea Salt Caramel Tart

Absolutely delicious and a perfect match with the happy tea

Savory: “James Beard” Vidalia Sweet Onions, Sea Salt, Garden Herb Crusted

So delicious and made fresh

Atmosphere:

To put a tea room in a rose garden is pretty hard to beat in terms of atmosphere points However, going on the perfect day was icing on the cake. The staff was so incredibly kind and gave me a complimentary birthday cake. It was so perfect. Afterwards, I wandered throughout the garden settling in on a little tree and opening up a good book- It was a good day. 🙂

Overall:

If you’re looking to spend the day for a special occasion or want to treat yourself to the occasion the tea service at the Huntington Library is a perfect option. However, make sure you dress for the occasion! 🙂

Tips:

  • You’ll have to buy a  reservation ticket to the garden in addition to booking the reservation
  • Get there before 5 pm as the gates close quickly so the perfect time to go would be 12 pm
  • No outside food/drink is allowed
  • Wear comfortable shoes as the garden is huge!
  • Wear sunscreen
